Remco Evenepoel changes course: new adventure for Olympic champion

After representing the currently sponsored Soudal Quick-Step team from the beginning of his pro career, Remco Evenepoel has decided to take a turn for the worse by accepting the long courtship of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe.
From next year, the Olympic champion will therefore join the German team, whose representatives include Primoz Roglic and Florian Lipowitz.
“Remco embodies the concept of ambition – said the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe team’s managing director, Ralph Denk -He doesn’t just want to race, he wants to be a benchmark in the cycling world. He brings with him not only exceptional physical talent, but also an extraordinary mental approach. His determination, as well as professionalism and the’tireless drive to succeed, are truly inspirational”.
Evenepoel, class of 2000, is the reigning Olympic champion in both the road and time trial: emblematic is the image of the finish of the road race in Paris, with the Belgian lifting his bike in triumph with the Eiffel Tower behind him. He has won five races so far this season, the last of them at the Tour (the Caen time trial), a race from which he had to withdraw in the difficult Tourmalet stage, however.
His new team will therefore be Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, a team that has been active in professional racing since the 2010 season and a user of the UCI WorldTeam license since 2017. The team, in Red Bull orbit since the summer of 2024, boasts a Giro d’Italia final victory (in 2022 with Jai Hindley) and one at the Vuelta (in 2024 with Primoz Roglic).
