The countdown to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games continues with the big unknown related to Federica Brignone’s condition. The champion from Valle d’Aosta, a victim of a serious injury at the tail end of the 2024-2025 season, is doing everything she can to be present at the big event on the Italian snows, although her presence, just over two months before the official start of the five-circle event, is still strongly in the balance. Brignone herself, at the microphones of Sky Sport, was very candid, without mincing words, about the possibility of being there in February.

“I have to live for the day, it–s not easy,– said the overall World Cup holder in alpine skiing. “This winter I look at the mountains with snow and it bothers me that I can&#8217t be there to compete. I can&#8217t make plans beyond the week, which is also why I can&#8217t comment on the chances of being there in Milan-Cortina, simply because I really have no idea”. In any case, there&#8217s satisfaction at having put the skis back on my feet in the last few days, albeit briefly and without making more than a few meters: “I&#8217m finally doing some athletic preparation, I tried to put the skis back on to see the reaction of the knee, but I simply did a tour”.

Just after the brief session with skis on, Brignone herself had spoken to official Fisi channels, expressing her satisfaction with the good feelings she felt. The Italian champion announced that she plans to return to the snow again in the coming days, to further verify the impact on the snow after the weeks of work in the gym. The goal remains to compete in her home Winter Olympic Games, which begin next Feb. 6. The alpine skiing competitions, as per the schedule, will begin the day after the opening ceremony, that is Feb. 7, and will go to a conclusion on the 18th.
