MotoGp, Pernat lapidary on Ducati criticism of Enea Bastianini
Ducati CEO Domenicali did not digest a maneuver by Bastianini on Bagnaia in the Misano race finale
Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali to Sky after the Misano GP said he was happy for the Borgo Panigale stable’s one-two finish but sent a dig at Enea Bastianini for his duel with Pecco Bagnaia: “Enea behaved well until the last lap, but that braking could have been spared, he risked too much and we don’t like that. Do you say it’s part of the nature of the pilot? There are 150 people working, a team, people working at home, a company. May the best man win, but without doing stupid things.”
The response from the Gresini team’s Rimini centaur’s agent, Carlo Pernat, was not long in coming: “On Thursday Ducati officially told the riders to be careful, because a thread of teamwork you need to do, especially if you have to make up so many points and you have the best bike. Anyone could have done the win though, Ducati said so. Instead, after the race, the CEO said Enea could have saved himself from winning…. I say they should come to some agreement, that’s all,” the words to Mowmag.
“Enea was in Misano, in his home Grand Prix and in Gresini’s livery, with Nadia watching him and the finish prizes…. He is a professional who races to win, moreover mathematically he is still in the race for the world championship. Maybe even a placing can make a difference for him. This is a very important World Championship and we are here to win it, however, there should be a little more unity in these things: let’s be careful, that’s fine, but winning is always another thing for a MotoGp rider.”
