Luciano Spalletti reveals secret to getting ‘big’ ahead of Ajax
Luciano Spalletti reveals what it takes to become ‘great’
Luciano Spalletti, Napoli coach, participated in the usual press conference prior to match day and touched on various aspects. The match, worth the third day of the Champions League group stage, will see Napoli take the field against Ajax, a team coached by Schreuder.
The Tuscan coach opened the press conference by talking about the characteristics of the two teams, “It seems to me that Schreuder is doing a very good job. We resemble each other as a team type, we both like to go and play ball on the ground, at speed, build from the bottom. It will be an exciting challenge, in a magnificent stadium, against a fantastic club. We will only be able to become great by playing great games. We want to try to do that.”
He later expressed his feelings about passing the round: “If we are extraordinary it can be closed even in these two games against Ajax, however, in front is an opponent with strong players like us. Maybe more international experience, in the Champions League. Just as determined to get the name they wear on their shirts talked about as we are.”
Spalletti concluded with a thought on Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo: “Di Lorenzo resembles a robot because he even when he does training after the match sends us very specific signals about his condition. He never drops his attention, he never has different words from a team leader. He is one of those players that a coach does without reluctantly.”
