Riccardo Rossi sends a message to Valentino Rossi
Sic58 team rider Riccardo Rossi: “I’m from the old school, Valentino Rossi’s to be clear…”
Riccardo Rossi’s good season in Moto3 has shifted the spotlight to the Ligurian rider, class of 2002, who raced with Paolo Simoncelli’s Sic58 team this year. Coming off a podium finish in Thailand, Rossi revealed in an interview with MotoSprint that he will stay in the category for one more year, then aim for a move to Moto2.
“From the races that are left I expect to be fast and to be fighting for the podium, especially in Malaysia, but also in Australia we can do well. Then of course you know, Moto3 is a lottery, you never know what to expect.”
Rossi confessed that he does not like too much the political correctness climate prevalent in the paddock in recent years, and quoted Valentino Rossi: “I criticize a bit this ‘friendly’ way of experiencing racing. Back in the day, Rossi and Gibernau used to tell each other off, while now at the end of the races the riders, even those who are playing for the world championship, seem to go to the bar together. As a spectator of course it is nice to see that bad things don’t happen however it is strange to see the riders at the end of the races hugging each other amicably. I am a little bit of the old school, Valentino Rossi’s to be clear. A little bit of competition is normal, so much is at stake in terms of money and status as the best driver in the world.”
