Pecco Bagnaia, clear words on Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi
Ducati’s Piedmontese rider Pecco Bagnaia pays tribute to the two landmarks after world championship triumph
Pecco Bagnaia in an interview with Radio Sportiva returned to winning the MotoGp World Championship in Valencia, the first Italian to do so since Valentino Rossi in 2009 and the first Italian to do it with a Belpaese bike since Giacomo Agostini: “I don’t realize I’m in the history of motorcycling, to hear my name juxtaposed to history is strange, I’ll realize it in a while when I’m at home relaxed and calm. I never thought I couldn’t do it, only after Sachsenring there was a little more critical moment, at Silverstone on the other hand the victory after a difficult weekend is when we realized it could go well.”
Bagnaia is grateful to two of his points of reference, Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi, who have advised and supported him throughout the year: “Casey I heard from him after the race for compliments, Vale was with us in the Academy during the weekend, he put his experience at our disposal during the year.”
On the upcoming duel with Bastianini: “We will see what it will be like to share the box, we will share the same goal and it will be new to work together, but we are smart enough to understand that on the track we will give battle but outside we will have to be cooperative.”
