Virtus ninth symphony, Sergio Scariolo gloats: “I think it’s a record”
Varese basketball – Virtus Bologna 100-108 in the ninth day of the A Series of basketball
Defeated just 48 hours ago by the Red Star in Belgrade, Virtus Bologna was called to prompt redemption in the league, where until before the match at the ‘Palasport Lino Oldrini’ against Pallacanestro Varese it could boast an unblemished roster: eight wins out of eight. The streak continued in the Lombard capital as well, where a fast-paced, high-scoring contest was staged.
In the usual post-match press conference, Sergio Scariolo highlighted the positive aspects put on the court by his team, which thus played its ninth consecutive symphony in the league, not failing to highlight the areas of improvement in view of the next difficult commitments.
“First, I want to congratulate Varese. They play well and in a difficult way to face, especially coming from a very tough Euroleague game. Congratulations also to coach Brase for what he is doing,” the Brescia coach began. “I’m very happy with how we played, we were always in control, although with Varese you have to be very careful because with their pace they can give you 10 points in a minute, which sometimes happened. All in all we controlled and moved the ball well, 32 assists I think is a record: many are from Milos, but several from others as well,” he continued.
“Our youngsters Mannion and Camara are growing well. Good night and a well-deserved day off. I am not very happy at times with some rushed shots and some balls lost through rushing. We can go into the open field, in the league you can do that. The problem is not rushing, if you run judiciously, the problem is rushing wrongly against the defense lined up,” the coach concluded.
