Charles Leclerc recalls the shock of his father’s death
Charles Leclerc’s words
Charles Leclerc, in his biography titled Le Prodige, also spoke about his father’s death on a race weekend back in his Prema team days. “He was my number one fan, he wanted me to be good in every race, so no, there was never a question about not racing because I was sure he would have wanted me to be there and win for him.”
“To be honest it was the worst way to prepare for a race, Jules’ passing had been a shock. Something hard to understand and accept. Losing my father, who helped me so much in my career, was another shock. It was hard. No matter what you do, nothing prepares you for the moment when you lose your father. I became more mature because his loss made me take on more responsibility out of the blue, making me grow as a man. Mentally I am stronger than ever after losing my father so early in my life. This is something that changes you forever.”
