Federica Brignone, Milan-Cortina goal: the hopes of Italian skiing
Final thoughts at the end of the World Cup and new goals ahead of the Olympics.
“We were competitive in various specialties – is the balance of Gianluca Rulfi, technical director of the women’s team at the end of the World Ski Championships -. especially in super-G, where we won the most glittering medal. These are races where there are athletes who try to give something more. The downhill was quite easy, there were three perfect runs, then in the race there were athletes who tried something more and there were no difficulties that could allow the champions to make a difference. Sofia Goggia didn’t come across the right downhill and that’s how it went.”
“Federica Brignone is a born competitor,” Rulfi added, “and it seems to me that her career is not showing any signs of slowing down or failing. She is having a lot of fun and will still be able to achieve important results, I hope until Milan-Cortina 2026.”
“Marta Bassino had already given important signals in the past. There have been seasonal ailments that have tarred us, but we are not discovering her today: she is a girl who despite not having the right physique for speed and very good at tackling especially the most technical courses,” Rulfi concluded.
