World Cup, Giannis Antetokounmpo worries Greece
The World Basketball Championship begins next August 25
Antetokounmpo’s presence at the Basketball World Cup, scheduled to begin next Aug. 25, is in doubt. The Milwaukee Bucks all-star has undergone surgery on his left knee, and at the moment it is not known whether the Greek will be able to recover in time for the World Cup.
Antetokounmpo has shown, on more than one occasion, his great attachment to the national team jersey (he was there at the last European Championships) but, this time, he may be forced to forfeit. Should he raise the white flag, Greece’s ambitions would change completely.
The Bucks are watching the whole thing very carefully. The franchise is confident that its star player will be present at the start of training camp, scheduled for late September. The concern, however, is all from the Hellenic coaching staff, which would not like to have to give up the two-time NBA MVP at the upcoming World Cup. News is expected, closely, in the near future.
