Virtus Bologna saddened: Toto Shengelia to Panathinaikos

A negotiation that would have displaced the Bologna club’s executives, who were convinced of the Georgian’s permanence, at least for next season. According to reports in Corriere di Bologna, Virtus Bologna is reportedly very saddened to have received Shengelia’s phone call (in which he allegedly asked to be released) after learning of the negotiations with the Greek club via the media.

Apparently Virtus Bologna decided to ask for a very high buyout to let Shengelia go. Panathinaikos does not seem worried and expects to close the deal as early as in the next few hours. Undoubtedly for coach Scariolo this is a very heavy farewell. Now it will be necessary to find, quickly, a player capable of taking Shengelia’s place on the Black Vs’ roster, while knowing that of outliers like the Georgian there are not many on the market. The 31-year-old Shengelia won a Eurocup and an Italian Supercup with the Virtus Bologna jersey.
