European Track Championships: two golds and a bronze for Italy
The first medals have arrived for Italy at the European track cycling championships being held in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.
In the women’s team pursuit Elisa Balsamo, Martina Fidanza, Vittoria Guazzini and Letizia Paternoster won the gold medal beating in the final even the reigning world champions from Great Britain.
4’12”551 was the time set by the Italian women against 4’15”950 by Megan Barker, Josie Knight, Anna Morris and Jessica Roberts. The bronze è went to Germany over’Ireland.
Gold also went to Matteo Bianchi in the men’s stationary kilometer: 1’00”272 was the Italian’s time against the’1’00”414 of Daan Kool of the Netherlands, silver, and the’1’00”472 of Melvin Landerneau of France, bronze.
In the men’s team pursuit finally bronze for Davide Boscaro, Simone Consonni, Francesco Lamon and Jonatham Milan, who got the better of Germany in the small final, 3’49”974 against 3’52”108. Gold to Great Britain, silver to Denmark.
