F1, Ferrari: Frederic Vasseur realistic after Bahrain
Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur comments on F1 Bahrain GP
The third place of Carlos Sainz and the fourth place of Charles Leclerc in the Bahrain Grand Prix of Formula 1 lend themselves to different interpretations: on the one hand there's satisfaction with a solid race both on the part of the Spaniard, who starts the season again with a podium, and on the part of the Monegasque, who was able to react to balancing problems that had him in trouble from the start.
On the other side, forò there's a Red Bull that with winner Max Verstappen and runner-up Sergio Perez confirms itself, at least for now, on another planet. And è from the distance between the two stables that Frederic Vasseur, at the microphones of 'Sky Sport', begins his examination on the sidelines of the race on the Sakhir curcuit.
Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur: "We expected it to go better"
"We expected it to go better – began the Cavallino team principal – All things considered è however, a good result, given that Leclerc had an unexpected problem with the brakes and Sainz had to recover to finish third. We were aware of the difference at the tire level, we wanted to put pressure on Red Bull but it è was not enough".
"Compared to last year è it went better,” Vasseur added, “we finished two seconds behind Perez and Charles, given the brake problem, è was good at finishing close to the podium. There'è forò a Verstappen who dominated, he was able to save himself over the course of the 57 laps. We hope to be closer in Saudi Arabia, we will have softs and start from scratch than here".
"We hope to fight for more than a place on the podium"
"It's true that in qualifying we are up to the mark and in the race we struggled, but we can't be satisfied– again the Ferrari wall boss commented- In any case we finished ahead of the Mercedes, next week I hope we can fight for something moreù than a place on the podium".
