Former driver Jacques Villeneuve has shown more than a few perplexities about a possible move of Max Verstappen to Mercedes in 2025. "I can’t imagine Toto Wolff wanting Max – he told the British website OLBG.com. – the only way he could really consider the'idea would be just to annoy Red Bull".

"I don’t see it at Mercedes becauseé they lost the championship to Red Bull and Max. It would certainly not be becauseé he really wants Max. It would have more to do with the’intention to create problems for Red Bull" added the world champion with Williams in 1997.

Recently the team principal of Mercedes, Toto Wollf made these statements to 'Fox Australia': "We will have a vacancy and we will be the only team to have this problem, unless Max decides to leave Red Bull: at that point the slot would no longer be free, at least as far as we are concerned" going on to explain that the relationship between Verstappen and Mercedes "è is bound to begin, sooner or later".
