At Imola a minute’s silence for Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger
Minute of silence, at 2:17 p.m. – just when 30 years ago Ayrton Senna crashed his Williams in a fatal accident at the Tamburello curve – at the Imola racetrack.
Present on that strip of asphalt, to remember the Brazilian driver and Austria's Roland Ratzenberger, who died the day before in a qualifying accident, were Council of Ministers Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, Minister of Universities and Research Anna Maria Bernini, Minister of Foreign Relations of the Federative Republic of Brazil Mauro Vieira and Austria's Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Schallenberg.
Also at the institutional ceremony, Ayrton's grandson, Bruno Senna; Formula 1 ad and president, Stefano Domenicali; Formula Imola president, Gian Carlo Minardi; Emilia-Romagna Region president, Stefano Bonaccini; ACI president, Angelo Sticchi Damiani; and Roland Ratzenberger's father.
At the conclusion of the minute’s silence, flowers were laid at the Curva Tamburello and later at the Curva Villeneuve, the points of the fatal accidents of Senna and Ratzenberger. Lots of Formula 1 and motor fans flocked to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the death of the two drivers at the Imola circuit with a large representation of Brazilian fans.
