The national title comes thanks to the knockout of the eternal rivals.

Real Madrid champions of Spain, for the 36th time in history, and the sixth national title won by Carlo Ancelotti in his long coaching career. The Merengues’ celebration è started thanks to the 3-0 home win over Cadiz (Brahim Diaz, Bellingham and Joselu in goal), but especially following Barcelona’s subsequent defeat on the field of Girona. The 4-2 win, moreover, allowed the Catalan red-and-whites to overtake their "cousins" Blaugrana in the standings.

Definitely bitter was the derby performance for Barcelona. In fact, Xavi’s men took the lead twice in the first half: with Christensen and with Lewandowski on a penalty kick (in between the equalizer by the usual Dovbyk). The second half, on the other hand, was all in favor of Girona, scoring with Gutierrez and Portu’s double that handed the 2024 La Liga to Real Madrid.

Indeed, in the standings, the Blancos are now on 87 points chased by Girona itself. The newly second in the standings è at 74 points, 13 less than the now unreachable Real Madrid. Only third is Barcelona, which remains at 73. Net of the corporate problems due to the ownership of the club (the same as Manchester City), Girona è is now sure to have achieved qualification for the next Champions League: the club has è never been in Europe in its entire history.

Ancelotti è on the other hand, reached title number 28 as coach. As mentioned, six of them are domestic titles (a Scudetto at AC Milan and a championship each won with Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich before the two at Real Madrid). As a player, the coach from Reggiolo had become three-time champion of Italy (at Roma in 1983, at AC Milan in 1988 and 1992).
