The NHl season è closed with the Florida Panthers’ historic first title as they beat the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in game-7 of the North American ice hockey championship final lifting a Stanley Cup that had never ended up in their trophy case.
The Canadians, who had lost the first three games of the series, had postponed any verdict until the decider, but they failed in the feat of turning the tables in the decisive game played on the ice in Sunrise, Florida.
The Oilers, five-time triumphants including four dragged by the legendary Wayne Gretzky, thus did not break the curse of Canadian teams who have not triumphed since the tempin of the last victory of the Montreal Canadiens in 1993.
