Gabriele Gravina charges Luciano Spalletti and sets Italy's next goals

During an interview given to the microphones of "Radio Anch'io Sport", FIGC president Gabriele Gravina, among other topics, dwelt on the future of coach Luciano Spalletti and the next goals of the Italian national team.

"Assessing the qualityà of a coach on the basis of a very short-term result would be a serious strategic error. When we chose him Spalletti was the best on the market and he has our complete trust. We have seen how he works so we have to give him the time he needs to be able to get results, also taking into consideration that the selectable players are limited compared to other nations. We have a quarter of selectable players compared to Spain" began the FIGC president.

"We restart from an important tournament, we have to be aware that Italy has to be top seed at the next World Cup and the Nations League è a stage of a two-year journey. Luciano has to start again from the group and the awareness that we had a disappointing performance against Switzerland at Euro 2024. We made mistakes, we analyzed them together with the coach and now we all have to improve together. We must be humble and united and try to rebuild trust within the group and with the fans" added the Castellaneta native.

"I have always shown my opposition to the open market during the championship because it negatively affects the team fan's identity and also generates distorting effects in the relations between clubs and players. I raised this issue in UEFA because I believe that a solution must be found, which goes through the joint activity of all clubs. leagues and federations, it must be a European system decision. I hope that this provocation of mine may lead UEFA to take some measures to improve the situation" concluded Gabriele Gravina.
