MotoGP, Motegi: Pecco Bagnaia explains the management in the last lap
Sixth win in the last 10 Sprints for the Piedmontese driver
Another Sprint victory. Bagnaia wins his sixth Sprint of the season (out of 10) in Motegi, confirming that he has found the right feeling with the race on Saturday: "I always work on what I have to improve. It ès not been an easy process. It's a type of race that doesn't really fit in with me, because I prefer to do management. By working you always improve", his clear words to Sky Sport.
On the race, the reigning World Champion è was very lucid in analyzing his test: "It's been quite a complicated race. We sacrificed some performance in the race to test the track. I got a good start but Pedro (Acosta, ed.) was going strong. As soon as I thought about letting the tires cool down, he è slipped".
On the last lap, Bagnaia è appeared very conservative, so much so that Bastianini and Marc Marquez got very close: " On the last lap, he had a big lead, so I thought about managing the situation. It was starting to drip, so I didn't feel it was worth the risk. Today it was important to win".
After recovering six points from Martin with the Sprint (now the Spaniard has a 15-point lead in the standings), Bagnaia aims to do well in Sunday’s race as well: "With the average? I don’t know, I only did eight laps on that tire. We’ll see in the warm-up. The performance of the soft è very good but it always has a collapse. We will have to manage well".
