Jannik Sinner won a place in the final at Roland Garros for the first time in his career: in front of one of the holy monsters of tennis, Novak Djokovic, the South Tyrolean never trembled, going on to win in three sets and thus becoming the fourth Italian (at men’s level) to reach the final in Paris after Giorgio De Stefani, Nicola Pietrangeli and Adriano Panatta. 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(3) was the score in favor of Sinner, who closed out the match after 3 hours and 17 minutes of play.

The South Tyrolean had gotten off on the right foot already in the first set of the Roland Garros semifinal. In fact, the world number one, against Novak Djokovic, number 6 in the ranking and seeding, had won the first set 6-4 after 46 minutes of play, reacting to a somewhat contracted start with a few strokes capable of cracking the confidence with which Nole had entered Friday night’s match.

Jannik Sinner had then doubled the lead at set level against Djokovic, ending the second game fraction in his favor as well, thanks to 7 games won against the Serb&#8217s 5 at the conclusion of a set that lasted one’hour and 11 minutes. Open applause for the two contenders, protagonists of a match of the highest level.

Jannik Sinner arrived in Paris as No. 1 in the seedings, and from the first round onward overcame France&#8217s Arthur Rinderknech 6-4, 6-3, 7-5, the other transalpine Richard Gasquet 6-3, 6-0, 6-4, Czech Jiri Lehecka 6-0, 6-1, 6-2, Russia&#8217s Andrey Rublev 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 and Kazakhstan&#8217s Alexander Bublik, beaten Wednesday with a score of 6-1, 6-5, 6-0. Awaiting him now is friend-rival Carlos Alcaraz.
