A gesture of kindness and fair play that drew the attention of the entire stadium and was applauded by the fans of his team and the opposing team.

The Let’s Build Kindness in Sport Award, on Monday, April 6 before Reggiana-Pescara, will be presented in the hands of Tommaso Fumagalli. The player was the author of a gesture of high sporting value and deep meaning, in the match played with FC Südtirol, when in the 66th minute, the red and white goalkeeper Alessio Cragno suffered a physical problem. The Reggiana striker found himself close to the action, chose not to take advantage of the potentially favorable situation and decided to voluntarily direct the ball into a lateral foul to allow the immediate entry of help.

The report of this gesture has made the rounds on the web and has reached as far as Tuscany where it was indicated as deserving by the Headmaster, Rossana Condello and the students and students of the IC V. Galilei in Pisa, the first school recognized as a kindness-building school community in Italy.

Giving the Let’s Build Kindness in Sport Award to Tommaso Fumagalli, which consists of the delivery of a jersey designed by the children in a sort of investiture as an ambassador of kindness, will be Gaia Simonetti, creator of the same Award and representative of USSI Toscana (Group of Sports Journalists), School Headmistress Rossana Condello with her Vicar Germana delle Canne/Grinch Gentile and Anna Vitiello, ambassadors of Let’s Build Kindness. The USSI Emilia-Romagna also collaborated on the award.

Since its inception in the spring of 2022, the award, sponsored by USSI Tuscany and the Cor et Amor Association, has been inspired by the heartfelt gesture of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and his hospitality to a family that fled the war.

In time, it has been awarded with the handing over of the jersey, in which Chiara Castellani, Vice President of Costruiamo Gentilezza, also participated in several stages, to more than 35 women and men of sports, including Claudio Ranieri, Javier Zanetti, Federica Cappelletti, Luka Modric, Kristian Ghedina, Tennis Club Giotto Arezzo and Daniele Cassioli.
