Federico Chiesa announces his return to Italy: market auction coming soon

Federico Chiesa will return to Italy in the summer: after two years with a marginal role at Liverpool, the former Fiorentina and Juventus striker has opened up to a move to Serie A to relaunch himself. The son of art played just 500 minutes in his first season in England, and just over 700 in his second, never managing to impose himself despite the affection of Reds fans. Now the 1997 class striker is looking for a new accommodation, also because after the arrival of Andoni Iraola on the bench he might find even less space.
“I want to play regularly, if I don’t find continuity in the Premier League I have to look elsewhere. In my first year at Liverpool I hardly played. Now I will go on a pre-season tour in the United States, then I will talk to the club and the new coach Iraola and we will see what to do,” Chiesa told Gazzetta dello Sport.
The player in the last summer market session and also in the winter had been followed by several Serie A clubs, including Napoli, Roma and Milan. A few days ago several rumors had accosted him to Como, which will play the Champions League for the first time in its history and needs Italian players in its roster. Chiesa has an estimated value of around 10 million euros.
From an economic point of view, however, the negotiation promises to be complex. In recent months Liverpool had set a demand of 20million euros to let the player leave, a figure that interested Italian clubs considered excessive. The current evaluation around 10 million euros seems more consonant, but the Reds still remain firm on the formula of outright transfer, excluding any hypothesis of loan. Chiesa, for his part, has reportedly already shown willingness to reduce his salary from the six million euros annually received at Anfield.
