Juventus Transfer Market: Giovanni Carnevali Speaks Out About Kolo Muani

Juventus is beginning to plan for the future of its attack, and with uncertainty surrounding Dusan Vlahovic, the club is once again firmly focusing on Randall Kolo Muani. The Serbian center forward’s contract is set to expire, and—at least for now—there have been no concrete developments regarding a renewal. For this reason, Juventus is evaluating high-profile alternatives, identifying the Frenchman from Paris Saint-Germain as one of its main targets.
The interest in Kolo Muani is certainly nothing new. Over a year ago, Damien Comolli had already spent a long time trying to bring him to Turin, attempting to convince PSG to sell him on favorable terms. This courtship did not sit well with the Parisian executives, who preferred to cut off contact and send the player on loan to Tottenham. The forward, disappointed by the outcome of the negotiations, had initially ruled out a possible move to Juventus. In January, however, Juventus returned to the fray at the suggestion of Luciano Spalletti. The diplomatic efforts of the former head coach and some of his former teammates helped reopen dialogue with the player. By the time the Frenchman expressed his willingness to join, however, the transfer window was nearly over, and there wasn’t enough time to finalize a deal of that magnitude.
Kolo Muani’s stint in London has not been particularly successful. The 1998-born player quickly slipped down the pecking order at Spurs, who are having a difficult season. A stay at Tottenham therefore seems unlikely, which is precisely why Juventus’ new CEO, Giovanni Carnevali, has reestablished contact with Paris Saint-Germain. The goal is clear: to bring Kolo Muani back to Turin, this time on a permanent basis. “We’re working on it,” Carnevali himself admitted when responding to a question from Radio Bianconera about the former Eintracht Frankfurt and Nantes forward.
The new Juventus executive could prove to be a key figure in the success of the deal. Relations between PSG and Juventus had in fact soured following the strategies Comolli adopted to lower the player’s transfer fee. With Carnevali at the helm, however, the situation could change. One major obstacle remains, however: Kolo Muani’s contract with the Parisian club expires in two years, and although he is considered outside the team’s technical plans, PSG is unlikely to accept offers below 40 million euros.
