2026-2027 Serie A: Who Will Be the Top Scorer (and Fantasy Soccer Star)? Artificial Intelligence Weighs In

“In the end, whoever scores is right,” went the tagline of a sports show from the 1990s. Because ultimately, regardless of all the talk surrounding the world of soccer, it’s the player who puts the ball in the net who usually steals the show, and in modern times, a prolific striker is essential not only for real-life coaches but also for “virtual” ones who build their fantasy soccer success on those “+3” points.
So, after providing the necessary information on how the twenty Serie A teams have performed, we asked artificial intelligence: Who will be the top scorer in the top flight for the 2026–2027 season that is about to begin? The answers range from certainties to comebacks to surprises, and we’re sure they’ll fuel the classic preseason debate about individual performances.
The AI ranks Lautaro Martinez first—already the top scorer in the 2023–2024 and 2025–2026 seasons, with 24 and 17 goals, respectively: Inter’s captain, a technical leader, penalty taker, and the undisputed focal point of a team that creates plenty of chances and has maintained its offensive chemistry, capable of scoring consistently under four different coaches. He is the most well-rounded player, the one with the most consistent performance and the most favorable environment.
Right behind him, the algorithms’ most credible candidate is Gonçalo Ramos. Milan invested a whopping 70 million in the Portuguese player’s transfer and has built a team around him with the goal of showcasing a box-to-box striker like him: among the potential assist providers are Moreira, Pulisic, and Chukwueze (as well as Rafael Leão, if he does indeed stay). Ramos has international experience and has already proven himself to be a reliable finisher. If Milan is performing well, the AI predicts he’ll easily reach double digits.
Third place on the podium goes to Rasmus Hojlund. Napoli has undergone a transformation but has built a system that can consistently support him: De Bruyne, Politano, and Neres, among others. The Dane is an old-school striker; he has enormous potential and could become the season’s most credible dark horse.
Among the Italians, the strongest contender remains Gianluca Scamacca. The Atalanta forward is a penalty taker; he plays for a team that aims to generate a lot of scoring opportunities, and he’ll have top-tier playmakers behind him like Samardzic, De Ketelaere, and—despite a few too many niggles—Sulemana. If he stays healthy, Scamacca could easily be the top Italian scorer of the season, according to artificial intelligence.
The AI also offers a broader assessment of the heavily revamped Fiorentina: if Moise Kean were to stay, he’d be the top scorer; if he leaves, whoever starts between Mateo Pellegrino and Albert Gudmundsson could see their numbers skyrocket. Moving on to a related topic, the AI also urges us to keep an eye on Artem Dovbyk’s desire for redemption—he was released by Roma but remains a player capable of winning the Ukrainian league’s scoring title twice and La Liga’s once.
A less high-profile name, but one not to be underestimated, is Lorenzo Colombo. The Genoa player is a penalty taker, a starter, and plays for a team with significant room for growth. He’s not a title contender, but he could be the surprise of the season—including in fantasy soccer.
Among the omissions, the absence of Juventus players is surprising, even though Spalletti himself has reiterated that the Bianconeri don’t need a 20-goal striker, but rather a broad distribution of goals. Kolo Muani, Yildiz, Boga, Alajbegovic, and the returning Milik: plenty of potential scorers, but no designated top scorer. Another surprise concerns last season’s second-half top scorer, Roma’s Donyell Malen: according to the AI, it’s unlikely the Dutchman will repeat that feat.
2026–2027 Serie A Scorers’ Standings, the top three according to AI: Lautaro Martinez (Inter) 22 goals, Gonçalo Ramos (Milan) 18, Rasmus Hojlund (Napoli) 16.
