Scariolo’s Spain struggles but Team USA wins again
Great protagonist of the match was Brunson
Team USA’s preparation for the World Championship (starting next August 25) continues smoothly. The team led by coach Kerr, the number one favorite to win the rainbow review, imposed itself, in Malaga, on the hostile Spain (98-88 the final), in a match in which the Americans confirmed to be in great shape.
Balanced match. In the first half, Coach Scariolo’s team managed to respond to the many escape attempts of Team USA, which, at halftime, was ahead “only” by 10 points (55-45). On the resumption, Spain also manages to put its head ahead in the score (65-64). A 9-to-1 partial by Team USA put everything back on track. Brunson was decisive, finishing with 21 points (9/9 shooting): “It’s an unreal environment. The Spanish fans were fantastic out there. But we always stick together and find a way to win,” Brunson’s own words in the post match reported by Marca.
For Team USA this is the third win in a row ahead of the World Cup, which kicks off next August 25. Now Coach Kerr’s team is expected in Abu Dhabi for two more friendlies, against Greece and Germany, respectively.
