Jannik Sinner confesses: nightmare night after Novak Djokovic
Jannik Sinner sets his sights on tournaments in North America: “It takes time, I spend hours and hours getting better and better.”
Jannik Sinner warms up his engines ahead of tournaments in North America: in an interview with La Repubblica, the South Tyrolean tennis player sets his sights on the goal and admits to having thoughts of the Us Open. “Let’s see. I play well on every surface, I spend hours and hours improving myself more and more, also because with Simone Vagnozzi we made many changes. It takes time. Of course, I play the best tennis on concrete.”
On aspects to improve: “I’m working a lot on my serve. Varying the ball more. Going to the net more. Being even more aggressive. Then maybe you lose the game because you miss a crappy volley. But now this is the philosophy: we’ll see if it pays off.”
Sinner admitted that the loss to Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon did not make him sleep: “When I lose, I never sleep, even in London it happened like that. Immediately after the match, I watched the highlights again. I want to learn immediately after defeats. From Wimbledon I bring a lot of good things: I gained experience on grass and against Nole at the Central, I beat different kinds of tennis players. But I could do some things better…Push a little more in the third and fourth sets, at the expense of more errors. Make Djokovic feel my rhythm. But then he started to play well. In the fifth set, it was late: there was a monster on the other side.”
