Jannik Sinner doesn’t want to stop: message to Novak Djokovic
Jannik Sinner happy and aware
It's a beaming Jannik Sinner, to say the least, presenting himself to the microphones of the Australian Open organizers immediately after beating Andrey Rublev and thus earning himself a place in the semifinals, where he will face the ten-time winner in Melbourne, Novak Djokovic, in a match to be staged on Friday.
"Undoubtedly è it was a very tough match against Rublev, I knew him well,” said Sinner. “I won all three sets played, but I could have lost the first and second, because he had so many break points. For my part è it went well becauseé I was good at reacting quickly. I am happy to be in the semifinals, I thank my fans. The match that ended over 1 a.m.? There'è no problem".
Now there'è Djokovic, probably the most difficult opponent in such a context: "I am lucky to face him again, in one of the most important tournaments in the world,” said Sinner, who has beaten Nole twice in his career. “It's nice to meet the world No. 1: I'll give 100 percent, then we will see what happens".
One of the most important moments of the match against Rublev è was undoubtedly the tie-break of the second set, in which Sinner came back from 1-5 to 7-5: "How did I come out of this difficulty? Who knows – said, jokingly, the South Tyrolean – I played point after point and managed to recover: I like those moments, they are the reason I train, this kind of pressure exalts me".
Sinner improved his best result in Melbourne: two years ago he stopped" at the quarterfinals: "Whatè changed since then? I have people around me who help me as a player and as a person, who make me feel happy when I win but also make me feel good when I lose. We are a group of people who work hard and work pays".
