Sprint Race in China, controversy explodes in F1
Major controversy in Formula 1 over the Sprint Race at the Chinese Grand Prix. The circus è returned to Shanghai after it was not raced in the last four seasons because of the Covid: the first short race of the 2024 World Cup will be held right here, but the controversy is hot.
Max Versappen, who has always been against it, did not mince his words: "It is not è nice that Formula 1 organized a Sprint in China in the year of its return to the calendar. It would have been better to hold a regular race weekend. On the other hand, that makes things a little bit more lively, and maybe that is what they would like to see. But from the point of view of driving and performance of the sport, I think it is not the smartest thing to do".
Also very harsh Carlos Sainz: "One hour of testing è too little for this kind of car, especially with the regulations they have imposed on us, with the wear and tear on the bottom and things like that. I think it is not a good choice to choose to run a sprint after four or five years of absence. We also heard that there was some resurfacing work, so maybe an Istanbul 2.0 è is on the agenda, although I hope not".
Sergio Perez also fears problems with the track: "I think that from the point of view of preparation, it will definitely be a very difficult track. I have never raced there, for example, with Red Bull, so it will beà very difficult to adapt in one test".
