Flavio Cobolli struggles but doesn’t complete the comeback: Tabilo moves to fifth set

Flavio Cobolli goes out of the picture in the second round at Wimbledon. The Roman tennis player, in fact, è was forced to surrender in the fifth set to Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the 24th seed in the seeding, who prevailed with a final score of 7-6 7-6 4-6 6-4 after nearly four hours of struggle.

In the first two sets to dominate è the service with Tabilo not conceding a single break ball to the blue. In both partials to condemn the Roman è però the tie-break: the Chilean won the first by 7 points to 4 and the second by the same score, taking two sets ahead.

In the third set came Flavio’s reaction, who snatched the serve from Tabilo in the opening game and confirmed the lead (2-0). The blue retains the break until the final 6-4, halving the disadvantage. In the fourth partial, the balance is broken on 4-4: Cobolli breaks serve from the Chilean and goes to serve for the set, closing the partial (6-4) and sending everything back to the fifth and decisive set.

In the last partial, Cobolli got off to a bad start: the Roman went down 1-3 but managed to sew up the disadvantage (3-3). The blue, then, è good to cancel a dangerous break point on 3-4 with a winning forehand. Called to serve to stay in the match, at 4-5, Cobolli però felt the tension and with a bloody double fault surrendered himself to Tabilo.
