Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur takes the pressure off
The words of Frederic Vasseur
The Qatar Gp è ended in the best of ways for Ferrari, which scored a surprise podium with Charles Leclerc and a sixth place in a comeback with Carlos Sainz. The results obtained by the two drivers from the Maranello stable combined with the penalty received by Lando Norris, allowed the Emilian team to make up a lot of ground on McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship, which will arrive at the last wekeend of the season in Abu Dhabi with only 21 points ahead. Ahead of the last Gp, Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur did not hide his confidence and charge.
"We are winning more points than McLaren and are still alive for the championship. Leclerc also è not even far behind Norris for second place among the drivers. Overall è a positive result. On paper the next race should be slightly better for us, but we must not let our guard down. Tire management will be key, because the differences between the cars are really small. We will have to do our job and bring home the maximum. We are going to Abu Dhabi with a huge motivation" began Ferrari’s team principal in the press conference after the Qatar Gp.
"We don’t have to worry about pressure, but only to do a good job, without thinking about what others might do. In Lusail we went out on track with the right attitude, because even though we were fighting for the championship we stayed focused on the car and strategy, without thinking too much about McLaren and Red Bull. We are still in the race for the world championship with one race to go, so I would say cbe è it was a good championship for us" added the manager of the Maranello stable.
"The race plan was to go even longer with the first stint. I think both Charles and Carlos executed the initial plan very well. With Sainz we had to stop for a puncture and with Leclerc for the Safety Car, otherwise we would have come back later. We were quite comfortable with the medium tires and the degradation was compensated for by the lightening of the tank. Definitely the tire wear did not help us, but the reason for Carlos's puncture è related to a debris" concluded Frederic Vasseur.
