Fiorentina market, Stefano Pioli in the headlines: three names in the running to take his place

Stefano Pioli’s second spell at Fiorentina is already coming to an end not even four months after signing his contract, which was made official last July 12. In fact, the Parma-born coach and the club only need to agree on the termination of the professional relationship, but the road is marked and the club wants to shake up an environment marked by a very bad start to the season, with the team in last place in the standings after ten matches, with only four points to its credit.
Waiting for the official announcement, names are already circulating for the post-Pioli role: the favorite seems to be Roberto D’Aversa, who was left without a team after his unfortunate season at Empoli last year. Colder is the track that would lead to Paolo Vanoli, who was a player for the Viola between 2000 and 2002 and comes from his first year in Serie A as coach, at Torino, which ended in 11th place.
There is also a third name that has emerged in the last few hours: as reported by ‘Rai Sport’, in fact, the lily club would be considering the possibility of entrusting the technical guidance to Alessandro Nesta, eager for redemption after the negative experience at Monza. The former Lazio, Milan and national team defender knows Fiorentina technical director Roberto Goretti well, with whom he worked at Perugia and Reggiana.
Whoever arrives to take over, in any case, has to deal with a very difficult situation in the league, with the pre- and post-season matches against Genoa and Juventus that will be crucial to understanding the margins for climbing back up the standings. Before that there’s also the Conference League, where the Viola have, on the contrary, started well (two wins in two games) and are looking for a trio against Mainz.
