National Amateur League teams up against violence against women

“Possession only applies on the ball”. It is from this conviction that the National Amateur League reaffirms, once again, its commitment to promoting respect, gender equality, and the fight against all forms of violence against women, remembering how soccer should be a powerful educational tool.
“In our sport, possession, control and pressure are technical gestures, not attitudes toward people. And it is precisely from here that soccer must assume its responsibility in the fight against gender-based violence – emphasizes Luca De Simoni, coordinator of the Social Responsibility Area of the Amateur League.
We must remember that violence is not only physical, but also psychological and verbal, and words can be associated with behaviors that hurt. We have a duty to be the first ones to set a good example, promoting correct messages and respect”.
Throughout the month of November, the LND, through its Social Responsibility Area, carried out numerous initiatives to raise awareness among athletes, managers, families and fans. From messages read on all pitches before matches, to constant support for 1522, the national anti-violence and stalking number, to the campaign “Making a team against violence” conceived by Gaia Simonetti that brought to the amateur world, testimonies of fighting violence with parents who lost their daughter to feminicide.
Through the Regional Committees, the LND has consolidated a path that has placed soccer at the center of a concrete social responsibility: educating respect, recognizing signs of abuse, and giving voice and support to those in difficulty. With these actions, the Amateur League confirms that sport is not only competition, but also culture, community, and civic engagement.
