Sampdoria, Dejan Stankovic introduces himself: ‘We need to change mentality’
Serbian coach introduces himself
Sampdoria has announced Dejan Stankovic as its new coach, who will take over from Marco Giampaolo.
The new coach of the Blucerchiati, who has just returned from three seasons on the Red Star bench, introduced himself to the official channels of the Genoese club: “I did not come for the 2 points and the last place, but for Sampdoria. We grew up in Serbia watching this team, following the club’s path even in the Champions League. I came for the club, not for the place in the standings.”
“I saw the team, material is there, we need to change the mentality. There are ways and ways to lose. I saw Monza, I don’t judge, but I didn’t like the attitude. We have to know what we defend, pride, it’s priceless. We must not scare ourselves. The pride of the society, of the colors, is priceless. I’m very confident, I don’t make promises, but I want to work and transmit the enthusiasm I have inside, that badness I have. With everyone’s help we can return to calm waters. Every game has to be a final. As Mourinho said, finals are to be won, not played. Let’s go to Bologna and look at ourselves, it depends only on us, in a big club it’s enough, it takes responsibility from everyone and the results will come,” the Serbian coach continued.
