Skiing, Soelden approaches: Federica Brignone is in, Sofia Goggia is not
Sofia Goggia will make her debut the following week in the speed events
The technical director of the women’s national alpine ski team, Gianluca Rulfi, released on Thursday the names of the seven summoned for the first race of the new World Cup season, the giant slalom in Soelden scheduled for Saturday, October 22.
Marta Bassino, Federica Brignone, Karoline Pichler, Roberta Melesi, Elisa Platino, Ilaria Ghisalberti and Asja Zenere will be part of the group. On the other hand, the absences of Elena Curtoni and Sofia Goggia stand out; however, they have been agreed upon with the Italian staff so that both of them, specialists in speed races, can continue their preparation and make their debut in the double event in Zermatt/Cervinia, whose two free downhill races are scheduled for Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6.
Fisi also announced that the men’s lineup for the CdM debut will be confirmed in the coming days: nine places are available for Italy, eight basic places plus Giovanni Franzoni, who won the place through last season’s European Cup.
