Calciopoli, Moratti attacks Juve and Milan: “We would deserve more than the 2006 Scudetto”
Scorching words from former Inter president Massimo Moratti: “Serie A was manipulated, it was a theft.”
Former Inter president Massimo Moratti, in an interview with Corriere della Sera, returned to talk about Calciopoli a day after the TAR’s decision to declare inadmissible the appeal filed by Juventus, 16 years after the scandal that shook Italian soccer.
“Serie A was manipulated; and we were the victims. Juve had to win; and if Juve really didn’t win, it was Milan’s turn. A disgrace: because the greatest form of dishonesty is to cheat on people’s feelings. The 2006 Scudetto? Absolutely deserved. I know that the Juventini are angry; and this induces me to claim it with more conviction. That Scudetto was the minimum compensation for the theft we suffered. We deserve much more than that.”
On Inter’s difficult moment at the corporate level: “Maybe an American fund will come. But beware of speculation. Soccer is not built to make money. The Americans would like to turn it into entertainment. Show-business. But I don’t know if it will ever be possible in Italy.”
