Cameroon, André Onana tough as nails: new outburst from the goalkeeper
André Onana vents again
Cameroon’s adventure at Qatar 2022 has come to a close after the group stage, but André Onana’s choice to leave the Indomitable Lions’ training camp following an alleged altercation with coach Rigobert Song continues to spark discussion.
The Inter goalkeeper himself, through Instagram, vented again: “In a world where lying is the most common thing, telling the truth makes you a revolutionary,” he wrote, “But, in the end, time puts everything in its place.
Onana played as a starter in Cameroon’s first game, lost narrowly to Switzerland. The exclusion from the team was announced by the coach minutes before the second match, the 3-3 draw against Serbia, which was followed by the defender’s farewell to the Cameroonian training camp. Cameroon then closed out the round with a meaningless win against Brazil, a 1-0 victory nonetheless prestigious that meant the African country’s national team left Qatar with a smile on its face.
