F1, Ferrari: Frederic Vasseur sheds light on strategy
Frederic Vasseur does not hide
Frederic Vasseur, team principal of Ferrari, commented to the microphones of ‘Sky Sport’ on the disappointing result of the British Grand Prix, with Charles Leclerc finishing ninth and Carlos Sainz just behind in tenth.
“Given the package we had, I thought we could do a better job,” said the Ferrari team principal, speaking about strategy. “We were too conservative with all the tire sets, we had set a target with Charles but it didn’t go well.
“The Safety Car, maybe we could have finished a couple of positions ahead, but it wasn’t going to be enough,” added Vasseur. “On Friday we only tried softs, we ended up being afraid of the degradation of the medium and hard tires because we didn’t know him. We paid for this decision.”
