Jasmine Paolini falls short: Iga Swiatek wins Roland Garros
Roland Garros: Iga Swiatek-Jasmine Paolini 6-2 6-1
S'shattered on the most beautiful the dream of Jasmine Paolini. The Italian, in fact, did not succeed in the feat of defeating Iga Swiatek and win the first Slam of her career. The world number one è imposed herself on the Tuscan player with a clear 6-2 6-1, accrued in just over an hour winning the Paris tournament for the fourth time.
The first set began well for the Italian, as she managed to break her opponent’s serve in the third game. From that moment, however, Swiatek upped the pace and became unstoppable, first posting the immediate counter-break, then winning the next four games, winning the partial 6-2.
The second set è without history, Paolini struggled enormously to find continuity with her forehand and the Warsaw native, in no time, flew away with the score taking a 5-0 lead. The Italian has a minimal reaction of pride, but this does not prevent the world number one to close the score on 6-1, winning her third consecutive tournament after Madrid and Rome.
With the chance to win in singles gone, the Tuscan player will try to triumph in the women’s doubles with Sara Errani, as they will face Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova on Sunday, June 9. To further crown the splendid path made by Paolini in Paris, as of next June 10 the Tuscan will be number 7 in the WTA ranking.
