Primoz Roglic è the winner of the 76th edition of the Tour of Dauphiné, one of the most anticipated one-week stage races on the UCI World Tour calendar, an important preparation ground toward the Tour de France. The Slovenian, however, took a big risk, burning in the last stage as much as 54 of the 62 seconds he had accumulated, until Saturday, on the second in the standings, Matteo Jorgenson.

It was precisely the American from the Visma-Lease a Bike team, in fact, who tried everything in the last stage of the 'Criterium', 160.6 kilometers from Thones to Plateau des Glieres: in a breakaway with Carlos Rodriguez, Spaniard of the Ineos Grenadiers who è then won the stage, Jorgenson finished in second place, earning 6" of bonus and 48" real on Roglic, for a total of 54": not enough, then, for the resounding reversal.

Roglic therefore won the Tour of the Dauphiné for the second time in his career, two years after his previous success: the Slovenian also won the points classification of the race, of which he also won the sixth and seventh stages, in Le Collet d'Allevard and Samoens, respectively.

The team for which the Slovenian rides, Bora-Hansgrohe, won the team classification, while among the "minor" trophies, there's also room for Italy: Lorenzo Fortunato, rider of the Astana Qazaqstan team, in fact è imposed himself in the mountain grand prix classification, winning the polka-dot jersey.
