Alessandro Sibilio writes history in the 400 hurdles
The fifth evening of the European Championships in Rome began with a historic result for Italy in the 400 hurdles. Alessandro Sibilio, in fact, won the silver medal by setting a new Italian record in 47.50, beating the iconic time achieved by Fabrizio Mori (47.54) a good 23 years ago (2001 World Championships).
The race è was won by Norwegian star Karsten Warholm, who finished the event in 46.98 (championships record), getting his hands on his third consecutive continental title. In third place was Sweden’s Carl Bengstroem.
"It's a crazy thrill, I have been waiting for this moment for two years when I had so many physical problems and I am happy for my family who è here present and who also saw me in Monte Carlo when I was injured" debuted the Neapolitan hurdler.
"I am honored to have taken away the record from my myth Fabrizio Mori who now for me è a friend and has always supported me with his advice" concluded Alessandro Sibilio.
