Euro 2024, Germany has fun on debut: Scotland destroyed

Germany sweeps Scotland 5-1 on their Euro 2024 debut and sends a warning to all rivals for the continental title. The hosts confirmed their bid for the final victory with a match-winning performance against the Britons, who were virtually helpless in the face of their opponents’ technical overpower. On the shields at the Allianz Arena the jewels Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala, authors of a goal each.

Nagelsmann’s lineup plays the game from the first minutes, and the match è virtually one-way until the triple whistle. After a rocket start, the Teutonic team found the lead in the 10th minute with Wirtz at the end of an action started by Kroos and finished by Kimmich: the Bayer Leverkusen star with a beautiful diagonal, low-cut shot gave Gunn no chance.

Scotland è in clear difficulty; and cannot find the strength to react to Germany’s continuous pressure: on 19' comes the doubling of Musiala, who served by Havertz sets off an impenetrable missile for Gunn. The German show continued: after a penalty awarded by Turpin and taken away by VAR, Germany created more chances with Havertz and Gundogan. At 44' the penalty that closed the game, awarded for a bad intervention by Porteous on Gundogan: from the penalty spot Havertz did not miss.

In the second half, the domination of the hosts continued, Nagelsmann’s team shot on target and the fourth goal came in 68' with Fullkrug, a right-footed broadside on an assist from Gundogan. After the 5-0 nullified for offside to Fullkrug, Germany lowers the pace and saves its energy for the upcoming matches: in the final came the Scots’ flag goal, an own goal by Rudiger, and then the fifth goal by Emre Can on an assist by Muller. Applause from the Allianz Arena at the triple whistle, the Germans dream of a triumphant summer.
