Jannik Sinner, Adriano Panatta raises alarm: "Better for him, though…"

Adriano Panatta at the microphones of Domenica Sportiva sounded an alarm about the too many injuries that are threatening tennis: “Everyone gets hurt here. I want to make an appeal to the institutions that regulate tennis: injuries are multiplying at a very worrying frequency and this is very bad news for the sport. The most striking case is obviously the injury of Alcaraz, who will be out of action until the Queen’s Club, that is, after Roland Garros. The problem is that these players will all get hurt sooner or later, without exception
According to the former Light Blue, the speed of today’s sport fosters problems: “Today’s game is very violent and subjects these guys to inhuman physical exertion. Now I don’t say you have to go back to my time, because you always have to move forward, but if they don’t stop playing so much sooner or later they will all get hurt. Without Alcaraz we lose so much in Rome and Roland Garros in terms of spectacularity.”
Panatta does not believe there will be psychological setbacks for Sinner after Alcaraz’s knockout: “It’s clear that the two of them are the clearly stronger players than everyone else. Better for him, you could say, but worse for our sport. That’s for sure. Jannik is so strong in the head that it will not affect him either positively or negatively for a very simple reason: he goes into the court and wants to win, no matter who he finds on the other side of the net.”
Panatta also spoke about Matteo Berrettini, who is in great difficulty: “I feel so sorry for Matteo because I saw him grow when he was still a junior. But the crisis is there and it’s evident because now he can’t even make the minimum wage anymore. He completely lacks continuity.”
