Milan Transfer Market: The Rossoneri Press On; Ruben Amorim Says Goodbye to Another Player

The selection process initiated by Ruben Amorim continues to have a tangible impact on the Rossoneri squad. The Portuguese coach, who had announced weeks ago that he would be making specific decisions, is gradually finalizing the roster for the upcoming season: in this regard, another player has been sent out on loan—albeit temporarily—as Andrej Kostic will continue his development on loan at Sparta Rotterdam next season.

The Montenegrin had been acquired from Partizan for this season with the intention of integrating him into Milan Futuro, and his two-goal performance in the first intra-squad scrimmage had led to speculation about a more significant role for him on the first team. As the days went by, however, everything changed, partly due to Francesco Camarda’s contract extension: playing time for Kostic at Milan would have been significantly limited, and the Rossoneri’s reserve team, competing in Serie D, would not have allowed him to play at a level comparable to that of the top Serbian league.

The decision was made during the Asian tour: the Montenegrin remains an interesting prospect with clear room for improvement, which is also why the club chose the Dutch league as the right path for him—an environment where he can continue to grow by playing regularly.

This transfer move is part of a broader strategy, in which Milan is streamlining its youth squad to allow Amorim to work with a more defined core group. In recent days, Zachary Athekame—sent on loan to Lyon—and David Odogu—who has chosen Toulouse on a temporary basis for the upcoming season—have also departed. These three departures confirm the direction set by the club based on Via Aldo Rossi.
