Lewis Hamilton frames retirement from F1: here’s when it will happen
A farewell to racing that will take place only under certain, very clear conditions.
Lewis Hamilton talks about retirement from Formula 1, which the seven-time world champion already knows when it will happen. And he explained it without mincing words to the Germans of ‘Bild’, sending a clear message to Mercedes as well.
“I believe that every year it is necessary to ask yourself a question. That is, whether you are willing to do everything you have done before, and maybe even more,” Hamilton explained. “You have to be willing to give up all your free time to devote it to preparation, to training, to working with the rest of the team. To get results, you have to do all this to the best of your ability.”
“Should a time come when I face all this with little motivation, it would mean that I no longer belong in the world of Formula 1. I would no longer deserve to keep my job here,” added Hamilton, speaking about the Circus but also more specifically about Mercedes. “At that moment it would be right to stop. Now, however, I ask myself if I have the will and the possibility to do all this work again. Well, the answer is yes.”
“We have to reclaim a championship, and every person working in Mercedes has dedicated all their time to this goal. We have been on a wonderful path, we have stuck together, and we have a common goal. Now I am eager to get to the moment when we come back to win the title,” Hamilton concluded.
