In a social media post, Lorenzo Musetti confirmed his forfeit for the London grass tournament at Queen’s due to the injury that forced him to retire early in the fourth set of the Roland Garros semifinal against Carlos Alcaraz. Here are his words.

“Hello everyone. Unfortunately, as you could see, I had to withdraw from Queen’s. I need more time to recover from the injury I suffered in Paris. My team and I are doing everything we can to be ready for Wimbledon. I can&#8217t wait to come back and see you all!”

Lorenzo Musetti has just climbed to No. 6 in the world, his best ranking ever. All this thanks to the semifinals he reached in the four biggest clay tournaments: in sequence, Monte Carlo, Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros.

In Monaco he even made it to the final after beating De Minaur and then lost to Alcaraz by winning the first set and crashing out in the other two, in Madrid he gave way to Scott Draper and in Rome again to Alcaraz.

Last year the 23-year-old from Carra on the London grass at Queen’s made it to the final, beaten by U.S. Tommy Paul, so he will not be able to defend the points he earned from the result twelve months ago.
