Giro d'Italia Women at the start, all hunting for Elisa Longo Borghini

The thirty-sixth edition of the Giro d’Italia Women will kick off on Sunday, July 6, with a 13.6-kilometer individual time trial on the roads of Bergamo.

For this 2025 Giro d’Italia Women will see the participants compete in eight fractions for 939.6 kilometers, crossing Lombardy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto, Marche, Umbria and Emilia Romagna, with the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola serving as the stage for the last stage.

Defending the pink jersey won in 2024 is Elisa Longo Borghini, who recently confirmed herself as Italian road champion by taking the tricolor jersey for the sixth time in her career. Trying to counter her dominance will be Lotte Kopecky, who last year contended until the very end for the top symbol, finishing just 21″ from Longo Borghini.

Returning after a three-year absence is Anna van der Breggen, a four-time Giro winner between 2015 and 2021, while also promising battle are Paulina Rooijakkers, fourth in 2024, Juliette Labous (fifth), Antonia Niedermaier (sixth), Gaia Realini (seventh) and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (eighth). There’s also anticipation for Marlen Reusser, recent winner of the Tour of Switzerland.

The Giro d’Italia Women 2025 stage finishes are set in Bergamo, Aprica (Sondrio), Trento, Pianezze di Valdobbiadene (Treviso), Monselice (Padua), Terre Roveresche/Orciano di Pesaro (Pesaro-Urbino), Monte Nerone (Pesaro Urbino) and Imola (Bologna). It will run from July 6 to 13, every day without a break day.
