Ferrari crisis, Lewis Hamilton in the crosshairs of critics: Ralf Schumacher recoils

The ugly Dutch weekend, with a double retirement and a ‘zero’ which could weigh in no small part in the constructors’ standings at the end of the year, is forcing Ferrari to do some additional thinking, not least because on the immediate horizon there’is the home race par excellence, that of Monza. If, however, Charles Leclerc was spared from critics, since his retirement at Zandvoort was caused by Kimi Antonelli’s kamikaze entry, the same cannot be said of Lewis Hamilton, who once again ended up on the gridiron and harshly criticized by Ralf Schumacher, who already in the past had not spared harsh words towards the Briton.

“Lewis is creating more and more pressure on himself, with these mistakes – sentenced Michael’s younger brother to ‘Sky Sports Deutschland’ -. He has to change something but he has to do it quickly, in all honesty I don’t know what is best for him, whether to continue or start thinking about something else. There’s too much confusion around him, his current situation is sportingly tragic”.

Hamilton’s retirement in Holland was the first retirement of the season in a Sunday race at the wheel of a Ferrari, but it is not the first time the Briton has not finished in the points: in China (where he won the Sprint) he was in fact disqualified after the long race, while in the race in Hungary he had finished a disappointing 12th, far from the points zone.

With nine race weekends to go before the conclusion of the Formula 1 championship, Ferrari is actually the second force among the constructors, although the gap in the standings to McLaren is abysmal (584 points versus 260) and Mercedes, despite Antonelli’s difficulties, is just 12 points away. In the drivers’ standings, however, Leclerc and Hamilton are fifth and sixth respectively with 151 and 109 points: ahead of them are Oscar Piastri (309), Lando Norris (275), Max Verstappen (205) and George Russell (184).
