Fabio Fognini’s victory celebration depopulates the web
“Right now every game is like a final.”
He suffered not a little, but in the end he triumphed. Fabio Fognini did not miss his appointment with victory in the first round of the Naples ATP tournament, defeating France’s Hugo Grenier 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at the end of a match that lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Such was the joy of the victory that the talented Ligurian tennis player took the opportunity to take a swim in the beautiful Bay of Naples, enjoying the summer day in the Neapolitan city to the fullest. The video, posted immediately on YouTube, literally depopulated the web.
At the end of the match Fognini granted himself to the microphones of the tournament’s press office, making the following statements, “Naples is a piece of my heart because I have beautiful memories here, both childhood and tennis-related, given the famous match in Davis with Murray when it was bedlam here. Today’s match was tough, against an opponent who makes few mistakes. I started well, then I had a mental decline, which doesn’t help me either physically or in my game. For me, every match right now is like a final, so I am happy to have won this very difficult first round.”
