Bertram Derthona, Marco Ramondino warns his team about away trip to Trieste
The words of Marco Ramondino
Marco Ramondino, coach of Bertram Derthona, presented the challenge against Pallacanestro Trieste, the fourth day of Serie A, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22 at 8:30 p.m.
Derthona comes to the challenge as the leader, having always won in this beginning of the championship. Trieste, on the contrary, has not yet managed to win and occupies the last position in the standings.
The coach of the Piedmontese club began in the press conference as follows, “Unfortunately, the week passed along the lines of the previous ones. It is a pity that we were not able to make a linear path in the preparation, of getting to know each other of the players. Because then when you enter the season there are few spaces to recover these aspects and you are struggling with the contingency of the championship.”
“Then we have some issues for other players and at the moment we don’t know the exact availability for the Trieste game,” Ramondino continued. “The commitment of the group is absolute on the part of the players to whom I cannot really reproach anything. All the players in these first three days have given their contribution. Otherwise, three victories would not have been possible. More than the exploit of anyone in particular, I hope to continue to see the great character of the team seen so far.”
He then spoke on the need to try a different quintet: “We have to give great credit to Daum, who already last year with his ability to move in the roles of 3 and 4 allowed us to survive in moments of great difficulty. We tried a set-up with him as a 3 in preseason but then due to various absences it was difficult to reproduce it. The same was true for the set-up with the double rook seen with Pesaro. It was not planned to play with Cain from 4 but in the emergency we experimented with this solution. Always having absences during the week it is difficult to try new things.”
Finally he warned his team about their next opponent: “Trieste is a team that should be read by going a little deeper into their start of the season. It had an impact on the championships that was anything but soft. It faced strong teams like Virtus and Pesaro, it probably lacked some continuity to get the win but it is also true that they had really important flashes inside the games. Against Virtus Bologna their three American outside players Davis, Bartley, Gaines had exhilarating moments that almost steered the game in their direction.”
