F1, Max Verstappen: surprise words from Toto Wolff
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff: “Red Bull’s violation will not challenge the 2021 title.”
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff returning to talk about the budget cap does not think Red Bull’s breach of spending limits will call into question the drivers’ title won in 2021 by Max Vertappen.
“I don’t know what the real extent of the violation is, but 1-2 million can decide a championship, the Fia has to make a decision that is meaningful. But I don’t think you can go back and question the 2021 title. But we will need a clear sanction for the future so that everything is fairer and clearer,” are the words reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.
It was Sebastian Vettel who was the first driver to win a world championship with Red Bull. The German put everyone in line for four years in a row, from 2010 to 2013. The Austrian stable returned to success in 2021 thanks to Dutchman Max Verstappen, with the son of art repeating the following year. If there was a battle to the last in 2021, that was not the case in 2022
